Ant McPartlin and Lisa Armstrong granted divorce in 30 seconds on grounds of adultery

TV star Ant McPartlin and his estranged wife Lisa Armstrong have been granted a divorce on the grounds of adultery.

Sitting at the Central Family Court in London on Tuesday, Judge Alun Jenkins granted a decree nisi in under 30 seconds.

Ms Armstrong had sought the divorce, with court documents indicating that "the respondent has committed adultery and that the petitioner finds it intolerable to live with the respondent".

If neither party raises a case against the making of a decree absolute within six weeks, their divorce will be finalised.

McPartlin - best known as one half of presenting duo Ant and Dec - and Armstrong were together for more than 20 years and married for 11 years before their split was confirmed in January .

In a statement issued at the time, a representative said: "In response to the recent speculation in the media, Ant is very sad to announce that, after 11 years, he is ending his marriage to Lisa McPartlin.

"Ant asks for privacy at this difficult time, for both himself, Lisa and their immediate families."

The break-up came after McPartlin entered rehab in 2017, following struggles with a two-year addiction to painkillers as a result of a knee operation.

He then checked into a private rehab clinic earlier this year after pleading guilty to drink-driving.

The 42-year-old was fined £86,000 and banned from the road for 20 months after crashing while more than twice over the legal limit in southwest London in March.

Last month, the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! star, who will not work on the series this year as he takes a break from his television commitments, said he had been sober for six months.

This Morning host Holly Willoughby will take his place next to Declan Donnelly in the jungle.

Sending McPartlin her "best wishes and support for a continued recovery" when the news was announced, the 37-year-old said she won't be trying to fill his shoes, but simply "keep them warm for a little bit".

Despite his break, McPartlin could still share the gong for best TV presenter with Donnelly at the National Television Awards next year, with the pair in the running for Saturday Night Takeaway.

The star met Armstrong, a make-up artist, at a roadshow in Newcastle in the mid-1990s, when she was an aspiring pop star in the band Deuce.

He has previously spoken of their struggle to have children.

McPartlin is now in a relationship with his personal assistant, Anne-Marie Corbett.
