Ant McPartlin could lose half of his £30million fortune if he divorces Lisa Armstrong

Ant McPartlin might end up handing over half of his £30million fortune to his estranged wife, Lisa Armstrong, if they go ahead with a divorce, it has been reported.

The star’s 23-year romance is thought to be “hanging by a thread” after his stint in rehab earlier this year, with it being speculated that the couple are set to officially separate after the Christmas season.

However, if the pair do opt to divorce then it could prove incredibly costly for Ant, with Lisa entitled to 50% of his assets – £15million.

Speaking to The Mirror, divorce lawyer Cara Nuttall explained: “The starting point will always be a 50:50 division of all assets.

“It is likely her lawyers will argue that due to the length of their relationship that there is no room for negotiation on that.”

Although neither Ant or Lisa have confirmed whether or not they are still together, make-up artist Lisa hit the headlines earlier this week when she hit back at a Twitter troll who blasted her for not standing by Ant after his rehab ordeal.

Lisa wrote back: “Educate yourself first love and get your facts rights. You don’t know!!”

She previously lashed out at the press, insisting that she was not “estranged”, however, Ant has been living away from his and Lisa’s shared home since he returned from Australia after filming I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! earlier this month.

Ant previously praised his wife for the way that she handled his stint in rehab, admitting that he put her “through hell” as he battled with depression and addiction.

The TV star told The Sun: “I’ve put Lisa through hell with mood swings and depression and how it affects you.

“I’m very sorry about the effect it has on partners. This kind of stuff puts strains on any marriage.

“In hindsight, I should have mentioned it earlier but you’re embarrassed about it.”

Ant first met Lisa in 1994 when she was in the band Deuce, just five years after he and his co-star Declan Donnelly first found fame in CBBC drama Byker Grove.

The pair tied the knot in 2006.
