Lisa Armstrong has hit back at a Twitter user who accused her of being “jealous” and having no right to be angry at her estranged husband’s new relationship.

Ant McPartlin was pictured with his personal assistant Anne-Marie Corbett over the weekend, months after splitting from his wife of 11 years. It was revealed the pair have been dating after growing close in the wake of his admission to rehab.

Armstrong has been inundated with supportive messages from fans after revealing she was friends with Corbett, including one from TV personality Nicola McLean who tweeted: “Sending my love Lisa!! Really feel for you worst pain ever x.”

But one user took aim at the outpouring of sympathy, claiming Armstrong split from McPartlin so has no right to be upset about him moving on.

They tweeted: “What about Ants pain what about what he has been through she didn't want him she split up with him so it’s none of her business who he sees #jealous much (sic).”

Armstrong snapped back, posting: “No I didn’t thank-you! X.”

McPartlin and Corbett grew close after “living in each other’s pockets, day in, day out,” while the Britain’s Got Talent host recovered from his addiction and drink-driving arrest, according to The Sun.

Armstrong, who is currently still married to the TV presenter, posted a string of tweets on Sunday night as she revealed she had not been informed about her husband’s new relationship before the news broke.

Responding to a Twitter follower who had said she “hoped he didn’t let you find out from the media”, Armstrong replied: “Nope. Just how you guys did.”

Coleen Nolan also defended Armstrong as she slammed Corbett for betraying her friend by ‘violating girl code’.

“It’s a real betrayal and I imagine Lisa is feeling devastated and terribly angry,” she told the Daily Mirror.

“One of my sisters once dated my ex. It was really upsetting. Your friend should be there as a shoulder to cry on when a relationship ends – not to date your ex.”
