Ant McPartlin's estranged wife Lisa Armstrong 'sleeping in a friend's spare room'
Ant McPartlin’s estranged wife, Lisa Armstrong, has shunned her and Ant’s £2million mansion to stay in a friend’s spare room, it has been reported.
The professional make-up artist is said to be trying to rebuild her life after it was confirmed that she and the Geordie TV presenter are divorcing after 11 years of marriage.
Explaining Lisa’s decision to move out of the London home that she shared with her former husband, a source told The Mirror: “It is very hard at the moment but Lisa has told those closest to her she needs a fresh start. That’s why she has been staying with friends.
“The marital home has too many memories – happy and sad. And it is close to where Ant is living. Lisa needs her own space now because she wants to try to carry on as normal as much as she can.
“Lisa is a survivor and has been through a lot – and she has no intention of acting any differently now.”
The news comes after it was reported that Britain’s Got Talent show bosses had moved Lisa to their spin-off show in a bid to avoid any “awkward encounters” with Ant backstage.
Instead of working alongside Ant, his co-host Declan Donnelly, and BGT judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden, and David Walliams, Lisa will instead help Britain’s Got More Talent presenter Stephen Mulhern.
A source told The Sun: “Lisa has worked on BGT for years and is keen to continue as normal.
“She has friends there and enjoys being part of the show. She’s generally done Stephen’s make-up and helped other people but this year the plan is for her to work exclusively on the spin-off.
“They are all keen to keep things civilised with Ant. It should certainly mean less awkward encounters.”
It was also previously reported that Ant plans to offer Lisa half of his £60million fortune in the divorce settlement, with the star allegedly keen to ensure that the chief Strictly Come Dancing make-up artist is “financially and emotionally supported”.
Ant first met Lisa in 1994, when Lisa was in the band Deuce, just five years after Ant and his co-star Dec first found fame in CBBC drama Byker Grove.
They tied the knot in 2006.
