Anthea Turner’s Ex Grant Bovey Rubbishes Claims He Dumped Girlfriend for Celebrity Big Brother

The property magnate snapped up the £100,000 fee offered by Channel 5 bosses but has denied claims he ditched his partner in order to boost his chances of winning when he enters the famous house tonight.

Grant has rubbished a recent report that he dumped socialite Zoe De Mallet Morgan, who he allegedly had an affair with whilst still married and living with Anthea, because he wants to be single when he goes on TV with the likes of Sam Fox, Marnie Simpson, and Katie Waissel.

Anthea’s ex got his agent to respond to claims made in The Sun newspaper yesterday by a source, who said: “Grant wants to be footloose and fancy free in the house. He wants no distractions whatsoever.

"It’s a ruthless move but he has a habit of making harsh decisions, both with relationships and business. Zoe is obviously deeply annoyed as she’s been dumped within moments of Grant getting a sniff of the big time once again.”

But the couple, who have dated for three years, came to the conclusion they wanted “different things” in life.

His agent said: “Grant and Zoe did not split because of any TV show. They split amicably a few weeks ago because they both realised they wanted different things for the future.”

Meanwhile, the film producer was declared bankrupt in 2010 after he racked up huge debts and it’s thought appearing on the show will help to ease his financial burden.

A source said recently: “Grant has never recovered financially since going bankrupt and the Big Brother offer was too good to turn down.”

A string of stars including Lewis Bloor, Stephen Bear, Christopher Biggins, Beth Chapman, Helen Lederer, Colin Newell, James Whale, Saira Khan and Ricky Norwood are believed to be joining Grant in the house.

Celebrity Big Brother will launch tonight (July 28) on Channel 5 at 9pm
