Anti-Israel protesters don’t want to save ‘Palestine’. They want to destroy Western civilisation
As October 7 moves further back in time, the ghoulish true colours of the pro-Palestine movement continue to fly wild and free, brazenly marring the peace, as well as the beauty, of our cities with their violence and their hideous, deeply disturbing paraphernalia.
As if further proof was needed of the movement’s true motives – hatred of the West, of all that is good in the world, and, of course, the fevered desire to legitimise attacks on Israel – the Palestine solidarity brigade made their agenda clear, for the second year running, at the Thanksgiving Macy’s Day parade in New York. Another jolly, fun-filled affair for children and families, patriotic and festive in nature, made ugly and disrupted by people with nasty, extreme views, waving flags, brandishing a “Don’t Celebrate Genocide” banner, chanting “Free, free Palestine”, and jumping barricades. The NYPD said it arrested 21 people.
The pretence of caring a jot about “Palestine”, or the wellbeing of the Palestinian people, is becoming more and more outrageous. And they just don’t give up. They are monomaniacal, obsessed, and amoral. They show no sustained attention to any other conflict in the world, or to the mass campaigns of barbarity against the Uyghurs in China, or to growing fears of genocide in Sudan. In the West, it is only when Israel stands up to bullies and terrorists that the placards, the chants, the demands for divestment, and the public exposition of blood-curdling cries and threats become utterly commonplace.
But to what end? The only thing their ceaseless yelling, lying, bullying and disrupting has achieved is a sense of smugness in Hamas’s top brass.
I was struck, reading a long New Yorker profile on the October 7 architect and arch-Hamas sadist Yahya Sinwar, killed by the IDF in October, that the Western protests against Israel, or “for” Palestine, were appreciated by him and his colleagues. They saw that these protests did their work for them: further undermining support for Israel, weakening it dramatically on the international stage, and making it easier to delegitimise the Jewish state and tie its hands.
The people intent on ruining the likes of the Macy’s parade on behalf of “Palestine” would presumably call themselves progressive. But all they are progressing is the strength and confident evil of theocratic dictatorships which, by their own explicit ideological framework, would want most of their useful idiots in the West, especially women and gay people, silenced or killed.
