Anti-Lockdown Protesters Clash With Police in Melbourne

Hundreds of anti-lockdown protesters gathered in Melboure on October 23, local media reported.

Several arrests were made as clashes erupted between demonstrators and police, according to local reports. Many of the protesters were unmasked, the report said.

This footage shows protesters seen marching and gathered outside Melbourne’s Shrine of Rememberance. Police and a helicopter can also be seen. Protesters can be seen holding signs including, “End Lockdown Now,” and “Dan Lied. People Died,” in reference to Premier of Victoria Dan Andrews.

In a press conference on Friday, the premier, “Protests are not safe. Protests are selfish.” The Metropolitan Melbourne area is under Second Step restrictions, which bar travel outside a 25 kilometer radius of one’s home and indoor social gatherings. Credit: @MADinMelbourne via Storyful
