Anton Du Beke’s Strictly ‘curse’ appeared to strike yet again Sunday night when he and dance partner Susannah Constantine were the first Strictly Come Dancing pair eliminated from the series.

Du Beke has long been paired with poorly performing celebrity contestants, and this has prompted rumours to swirl on Monday that he’s set to ‘quit’ the popular series after an incredible 14 years on the show.

An anonymous source told the MailOnline on Monday: ‘That was Anton’s last Strictly. Anton is really unhappy as he feels like he gets the joke acts or the ones who can’t dance at all.”

Du Beke has never won the series, despite being on the show since it began. While the source says he ‘got lucky’ with being partnered with popular contestant Ruth Langsford last year, he’s also been partnered with a long list of two left-footed celebrity contestants that include Anne Widdecombe and Kate Garraway.

So has the Strictly veteran quit the show for good? He addressed the rumour on Monday directly on Twitter, and denies he has any plans to leave the show. He even claims he is ‘NEVER quitting.’

A spokesperson for the BBC also denies Du Beke will be leaving Strictly Come Dancing and is set to make several reappearance throughout the remainder of this series.

“We never comment on contractual matters but Anton will be kept very busy for the rest of the series in our group performances. We also have our Christmas special so his fans will be seeing plenty more of him,” the spokesperson said.

It has also been reported that Du Beke’s ousted partner Susannah Constantine threw a tantrum after their elimination, for which she has vehemently denied.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday night at 6.30pm on BBC One.
