Antonio Conte on Chelsea’s 4-0 win at Stoke City: Discusses Alvaro Morata, Thibaut Courtois injury and more

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte insisted that, despite defeating Stoke City 4-0 on Saturday, that their victory at the Britannia Stadium was anything but easy.

Alvaro Morata scored a hat-trick as Chelsea ran out comfortable winners, with the result taking them up to third place in the Premier League.

Speaking after the match, Conte was full of praise for his three-goal hero, before discussing the head injury that almost saw goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois substituted.

There were concerns for Courtois wellbeing after landing awkwardly following a collision with teammate Gary Cahill and Stoke striker Peter Crouch.

But Conte said that, following a discussion with the club doctor, Courtois was deemed fit to continue.

"I spoke with our doctor about Thibaut, above all about whether I could make a different substitution and he said Thibaut was okay and you can make another substitution," Conte explained.

"Now he is okay and ready to play the next game against Atletico Madrid."

Chelsea’s focus now turns to the Champions League, where they travel to face La Liga side Atletico Madrid on Wednesday.
