Spartak Moscow manager Massimo Carrera has admitted he has sought advice from Antonio Conte about the club's Champions League opponents Liverpool.

Carrera and Conte share a long history together, first playing together at Juventus before the former became the latter's coaching assistant in Turin and, later, within the Italy national team.

Carrera rejected the chance to follow his compatriot to Chelsea in the summer of 2016, instead moving to Spartak where he went on to become manager and lead the club to their first Russian top-flight title in 16 years.

The club will now host Chelsea's Premier League rivals Liverpool on Tuesday night and, ahead of the Champions League clash in Moscow, Carrera revealed he spoke to Conte about Jurgen Klopp's side.

Carrera said: "I did call him the other day but it's not just Liverpool we discussed. We talked about our families, private matters and all that. Liverpool were also mentioned, of course.

"No need to point out any of the players - all of them are of exceptional quality. But it doesn't change anything, our task is to neutralise them all and play to our strengths."
