Antonio Conte warns rivals best is yet to come from PFA Player of the Year N'Golo Kante

Antonio Conte believes the best is still to come from Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante even though he was named PFA Player of the Year last night.

Kante was honoured by his peers having played an instrumental role in Chelsea's bid to win the Double.

The France international, who joined the Blues for £32m from Leicester last summer, was overlooked for any individual honours 12 months ago.

Conte says he fully deserves the accolade this time around, but doesn't want him to rest on his laurels.

He said: "We must be pleased for him. We must be proud for him. It's a great achievement.

"He's working very hard and I think he's improving a lot with these players. He's a really good guy. He's always available to work and improve his weaknesses. I hope he continues in this way. It's important for him not to stop this will, this desire, to continue to improve himself.

"The most important thing for a player is to give continuity in performance. He's been doing it this last season and this season. His performance is always really good.

"He's showing great ability to win the ball and also, I think, he's improving a lot with the ball to find the first pass to play in a vertical way, and not only in a lateral or horizontal way.

"He's improving a lot. But I think also he can improve still, and he must continue to improve still.”
