THE Arzoo restaurant caused quite a stir when it opened on Morley Street in Bradford in the mid-1980s.

In March, 1986, the T&A reported: “This restaurant’s star dish is chicken masala. And customers summed up the situation by saying they served ‘chicken masala like the real chicken masala.’

“Arzoo means desire and this restaurant has certainly become a desirable place to eat, since it opened last August.

In an area where there is some of the strongest competition in the city for Asian cuisine, the Arzoo has developed a regular clientele who like the variety, pleasant decor and keen prices. Most dishes are priced under £2.

“Partners Mohammed Tariq, Mohammed Shafait and KA Khan have created an atmosphere where a cheerful welcome is all part of the service.”
