Aphex Twin announces first London club show in 10 years as part of Red Bull Music Festival London

Aphex Twin will play his first London club show in almost a decade later this year.

The elusive DJ and producer will appear at Printworks on September 14, as part of the inaugural London edition of the Red Bull Music Festival.

It will be Aphex Twin’s first time performing at a club in the capital since he helmed the decks at the now-defunct Matter in Greenwich, back in 2009. His last gig in the city was at Field Day in 2017.

Performing on a custom-built set comprising more than 306 LED panels and lasers, he will be supported by Afrodeutsche, Caterina Barbieri and Nihiloxica. Visual effects will be supplied by Weirdcore.

The night at Printworks will be the headline event of Red Bull Music Festival London, which will run at multiple venues across the city from August 20 to September 14. Other versions of the festival have previously taken place in New York, São Paulo, LA, Tokyo and beyond.

This UK iteration will feature music, panel discussions and exhibitions.

Fabric will host a three-room homage to UK bass, with sets from Blawan, Saoirse, Sherelle, Loefah and more. Elsewhere, So Solid Crew, Ms Dynamite and Todd Edwards are among the garage favourites assembling in a south London car park for a celebration of UK garage — exact venue details are yet to be revealed.

Round Robin, the event series which sees artists pair up for an improvised duet, will come to EartH and feature the likes of Emma Jean-Thackray, Joe Armon-Jones, Lapalux, Nabihah Iqbal and others.

Radio 1 Xtra’s Sian Andersion will chat to dancehall artist Spice about her career, while the British Library will host Coded Language, an event discussing the evolving lexicon of London’s music scene.

Red Bull Sound System, which returns to Notting Hill Carnival for the 11th consecutive year, we also be part of the festival.
