Croatia boss Zlatko Dalic has tipped England for success in the near future, joking that football is "coming home, very soon".

Dalic saw his side relegated from Uefa Nations League group A4, after goals from Jesse Lingard and Harry Kane sealed England's 2-1 cpmeback win at Wembley.

Croatian players had been angered by what they perceived to be English arrogance ahead of this summer's World Cup semi-final meeting, typified by the ‘football's coming home’ line from Lightning Seeds' Three Lions hit.

The anthem blared around Wembley at full-time on Sunday as England celebrated qualification for the Nations League Finals next summer, but this time Dalic borrowed the refrain for praise rather than criticism.

"It's coming home, very soon," he said. "I think England showed already at the World Cup.

"They, I think, exceeded expectations. They have a really young and very fast team, which is very important in modern football.

"I'd like to congratulate England on a deserved win and for qualifying for the final four of the Nations League."
