We won't have to wait much longer for our next look at the eagerly anticipated Blade Runner 2049.

Ridley Scott has revealed to AP that the second trailer is going to play in front of Alien: Covenant when it's released in cinemas next month, but wouldn't say much more other than the fact that the trailer "will be cool".

Since Alien: Covenant comes out a week earlier in the UK on May 12, we don't know if that means UK audiences will be seeing it or if we'll all have to wait a week until that movie creeps into US cinemas on May 19.

Scott worked on the screenplay for the sequel to his cult sci-fi and is producing the movie, but passed on directing duties to Arrival's Denis Villeneuve.

Not much is known about Blade Runner 2049 other than the fact it takes place 30 years after the original movie and follows Ryan Gosling's Officer K. He unearths a long-buried secret that eventually leads him on a search to find Harrison Ford's Deckard.

Earlier this month, Captain Phillips star Barkhad Abdi revealed he is playing a scientist who's "totally deformed" in the sequel and that he filmed scenes with Gosling.

And Edward James Olmos has teased that his Blade Runner character Gaff will be in the sequel for a single "poignant" scene: "Well it's not about Gaff, but it's about someone who is going to try to find out certain things about us back then."

Blade Runner 2049 (finally) arrives in cinemas on October 6.
