'I could have died': Gemma Collins 'considering suing the BBC' over Teen Awards stage fall

TOWIE star Gemma Collins is reportedly considering suing the BBC after she fell down a hole in the stage at Radio 1’s Teen Awards.

She told the Sun she “could have died or at least been disabled” after plunging through a trapdoor at London’s Wembley Arena.

Footage of Sunday’s accident has since gone viral across the world.

In an interview with the Sun, the 36-year-old said she plans to speak to a lawyer and is dismayed she hasn’t heard from the BBC since the awards.

She said: “I'm in total shock. It is a miracle I am living to tell the tale.

“I could have died or at least been disabled at the end of it. I could have been legless.

“'I didn't even know there was a hole there. No joke, my life did flash before my eyes. I thought I was dead.

She added: “I've got to consult a lawyer, yeah. The BBC, they've not been in touch with any compensation or anything - or even an apology.”

The former reality TV star also claimed she had not been fully briefed about the stage before going out on to it.

A spokeswoman for Radio 1 told the Sun: “The BBC takes the health and safety of everyone involved very seriously and we are awaiting a full report from Remedy, the production company who made the show, about the incident, but they have told us that Gemma did receive a full briefing before going on stage.”

Ms Collins later made light of the incident with a tongue-in-cheek social media post showing her as the temporary face of a work-based accident helpline.

However she said she had been left in "throbbing" pain from the incident.

"It's the left side of my body that is coming out now with the bruising because I smacked down on to whatever material they had used for that raised platform," she said.

The Standard has contacted the BBC for comment.
