'Couple kicked out of own wedding at Tower of London as drunken army officer ran amok'

An Army wedding held at the Tower of London was reportedly disrupted by a drunken guest, leading to the happy couple being kicked out of their own reception.

Trouble broke out following the marriage of Lieutenant Dominic Ward, from Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, and Cherie Preston, in the palace grounds, The Times reported.

After initial “bad behaviour” at the Tower, where the regiment is based, guests moved on to the reception at nearby Trinity House on Tower Hill, it is claimed.

One young officer among the guest party then ran amok with a fire extinguisher, spraying the a 19^th-century oil painting and the Grade-I listed building’s floors with foam, the paper reported.

A source told The Times: "The wedding staff were screaming and shouting at all the wedding guests to get out.

“All the guests were kicked out and the best man managed to find a new venue in a nearby hotel complex, which cost a fortune to hire."

The badly-behaved officer was said to have been taken back to his digs by a friend before reportedly urinating against the front gate of the Tower.

He then punched his colleague in the face, knocking a cap from one of his front teeth, it is claimed.

A horrified Beefeater who saw the scenes on Saturday night called for help and a man was eventually arrested.

A spokesman for the Met Police confirmed they had been called to the Tower at 11.45pm on Saturday.

He said: “Officers attended and accompanied the man off the premises.

“He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly and taken to an east London police station.

“He was later issued with a Penalty Notice for disorder.”

The officer has since offered his resignation, which was refused, and the incident is being probed by the Army, the paper reported.
