'What a devil!': Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield’s NTAs 2018 speech crashed by Bradley Walsh

Bradley Walsh may have lost out to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield – but he made sure all eyes were on him as they picked up their win.

Walsh, 57, was up for Best Daytime at this year’s National Television Awards for The Chase.

The ITV game show faced tough competition from Loose Women, The Jeremy Kyle Show and This Morning, who walked away with the win for another year.

Keen to get a taste for what it’s like to be a winner on stage, Walsh snuck in with the team as they collected their trophy.

Willoughby noticed the intruder midway through her acceptance speech. She said: “I’m lucky to work with not only one of my best friends, but as far as I’m concerned, the best team in the business. And… Bradley Walsh! What a devil!”

She then joked that Walsh is the new doctor on This Morning, adding: “Bradley Walsh is our new doctor. He’s taking over sexual health, so if anyone’s got an issue, come and speak to Doctor Brad.”

Schofield shouted: “When the hell did you join?”

Schofield paid tribute to his co-star Willoughby, telling the audience and viewers at home that he “absolutely adores” her.

He said: “We love getting up early in the morning even when it’s really, really cold and dark so that we can work on a show that we’re so proud of and I can work with someone I absolutely adore working with.”

Among the night’s big winners were Ant and Dec who took home three out of a possible four awards.

The Geordie duo received the Best Presenter gong for a 17th year, which left McPartlin close to tears.

The TV favourite – who split from his wife weeks after a stint in rehab – said: “I’m shaking. This has been a very emotional night tonight and quite a tough 12 months so winning this means a lot.

“I’d like to thank all my family and my friends – thank you for all your support, it really means the world to me.”

Other winners included Coronation Street’s Lucy Fallon, Doctor Foster and Peter Kay’s Car Share.
