Note: The following contains minor spoilers for 9-1-1.

American Horror Story co-creator Ryan Murphy's procedural drama 9-1-1 has finally crashed onto UK screens after literally months of hype, and viewers are excited to have Angela Bassett kicking ass on screen again!

The newly-revamped Sky Witness channel has been heavily advertising the hit US drama series, which follows first responders on the scene of life-threatening emergencies in and around the Los Angeles area.

It's definitely a treat for American Horror Story fans, as it reunites that show's producers Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear with veteran cast members Angela Bassett and Connie Britton - albeit without a pigman, antichrist or coven in sight.

The pilot, which aired on Wednesday on Sky Witness, introduced this high-pressure world to viewers through the eyes of emergency services dispatcher Abby Clark (Britton).

It's through Abby's calls with the distressed that viewers begin following other law enforcement officials in the line of duty, including LAPD sergeant Athena Grant (Bassett) and firefighter Chimney (Kenneth Choi).

Away from the line of duty, there were also glimpses of these characters' personal struggles - Abby is a carer for a mother with dementia while Athena struggles with the revelation that her husband is gay.

While people seemed to enjoy the hour as a whole, they were specifically keen to see Angela Bassett doling out law and order:

The only downer for fans who are enjoying 9-1-1 is that Connie Britton will not be a part of the upcoming second season, so we'd suggest that fans soak up this Abby storyline while they can.

9-1-1 continues next Wednesday at 9pm on Sky Witness in the UK. In the US, the series returns with new lead Jennifer Love Hewitt on Monday, September 24 on Fox.
