Star Wars: The Last Jedi's first trailer was incredibly teasery, torturing us with brief glimpses of Leia's back and Luke's silhouette.

Now Vanity Fair has revealed its new covers, giving us a close look at the entire cast of Rian Johnson's The Force Awakens sequel in the lead up to the series' 40th anniversary.

First up, we have the late Carrie Fisher looking magnificent as General Leia Organa.

Rey (Daisy Ridley) stands beside Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) on Ahch-To, awaiting training in the ways of the Force.

Resistance heroes Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) and Finn (John Boyega) are joined by newcomer Rose (Kelly Marie Tran), a maintenance worker about to be thrust into galaxy-changing events.

Finally, we have First Order bad guys Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie), Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and General Armitage Hux (Domhnall Gleeson). And yes, that's the first time we've seen Phasma unmasked.

The details of the film are being kept closely (and predictably) under wraps, but the Resistance are expected to be pulled deeper into the struggle with the First Order, while Rey learns what she can from Luke.

The first trailer left us with the ominous words: "It's time for the Jedi to end."

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be released on December 15. The new Vanity Fair will be released on June 6 and available to subscribers on May 24.
