Celebrity MasterChef returned tonight (August 16) with a new batch of wannabe chefs of varying cooking talents, ready to make our mouths water with all the delicious dishes.

This week saw comedian and actor Jim Moir (aka Vic Reeves), TV presenter Angellica Bell, seven-time snooker world champion Stephen Hendry, news reader Julia Somerville and tennis star Henri Leconte take to the kitchen.

First of all, viewers were very excited the series was back and rather impressed with the line-up.

The first task was the Mystery Box challenge where the celebrities were given a set of ingredients and told to make something edible – with rather mixed results, but everyone survived.

The second task was the most terrifying of all, as the celebrities were put into actual restaurants to cook for paying customers.

And the head chef at London restaurant Temper went down a treat.

The third task brought the celebs back into the MasterChef kitchen to cook their own two dishes, and many noticed Jim AND Stephen seem to have the same signature ingredient already.

But it was Stephen who was the first to leave, much to the fury of viewers who adored him.

Other celebrities to head into the kitchen this series include S Club 7's Rachel Stevens, Paul Daniels' ex Debbie McGee and singer Patti Boulaye.

Gogglebox's Reverend Kate Bottley, TV presenter Aasmah Mir, Lock Stock's Nick Moran and Olympian Rebecca Adlington are among others.

MasterChef airs on BBC One.
