Emily Atack was the most popular girl in school on The Inbetweeners, and now she's unquestionably the most brave person in camp after facing a record 50 snakes on I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!.
The actress had that unfortunate 'pleasure' in Monday night's (November 19) episode after being voted by the public to take part in the first Bushtucker trial of the series, ominously called The Viper Pit.
Before she left camp, fellow Snake Rock members Anne Hegerty and Fleur East both prayed over Emily - little did she know how much she'd need those prayers. Once at the trial site, Declan Donnelly and Holly Willoughby laid out the terrifying task ahead.
Telling her she'd have to climb in the mouth of a giant Viper idol, Dec continued: "Your aim is to find five stars that are hidden inside the first three chambers. Then you'll reach the fourth and final chamber and for each minute you stay inside you'll win a star – a maximum of five stars is up for grabs."
There were ten stars in total to win – but the first five would go to the rival team in Croc Creek. The sixth star would mean that Emily herself could join Croc Creek, and then the remaining four would go to Snake Rock.
Emily climbed into the Viper's mouth, where she was immediately faced with two jungle pythons. However, the actress easily nabbed the first two stars and escaped into the second chamber.
There was only one star in that chamber, and one of the jungle pythons waiting immediately bit Emily's hand! These were truly harrowing scenes as Emily repeatedly tried to go for the star while the python continued going for the attack.
"Oh my god, he just went for her," Holly declared. "I've never seen anything like it in my life!"
Viewers were on the edge of their seats as well... much like Holly:
After one final attempt to grab the star in which the python went directly for her hand again, Emily pulled her hand out… and the snake slid out into the other chamber with her!
"We're all on edge here. We're all on edge," Dec admitted.
Dec and Holly urged Emily to forget the star and back away from the python slowly, so she could enter the next chamber. Brave Emily kept going and continued wracking up stars, even after having to stay in a room covered with dozens of snakes for five long minutes.
How'd she get through it? By imagining a Christmas dinner where she'd start with the cheese board!
In the end, Emily won an incredible nine out of ten stars, meaning she'd be leaving Snake Rock for the comforts of Croc Creek! She'd also set a record for completing the trial with 50 snakes, the most ever!
"OMG, you are a legend," Holly told her, with the campmate quipping: "I can't believe I did it. It smells of poo in there!"
Viewers were also hugely impressed with Emily's bravery, if a little uneasy still:
I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! continues on Tuesday (November 20) at 9pm on ITV, followed by Extra Camp at 10pm on ITV2.
