Just months after Kevin Spacey was ousted from Sir Ridley Scott's All the Money in the World in the wake of a sexual misconduct scandal, a new film starring the actor will premiere in cinemas.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the next time movie-goers will be able to Spacey on the big screen is in Billionaire Boys Club, which is scheduled for an August release.

Billionaire Boys Club, which is about a group of wealthy boys in Los Angeles in the '80s who come up with a plan to get-rich-quick with a Ponzi scheme, is set for a limited release across the United States on August 17, a month after its VOD release.

The movie's distributor, indie firm Vertical Entertainment, stressed that the decision to show the film was "neither an easy nor insensitive" one.

Calling the allegations against Spacey "distressing", Vertical downplayed the actor's role in the film, adding that he had "a small, supporting role" in something "made almost two-and-a-half years ago".

"We don't condone sexual harassment on any level and we fully support victims of it," Vertical said in a statement to The Wrap. "At the same time, this is neither an easy nor insensitive decision to release this film in theaters, but we believe in giving the cast, as well as hundreds of crew members who worked hard on the film, the chance to see their final product reach audiences.

"In the end, we hope audiences make up their own minds as to the reprehensible allegations of one person's past, but not at the expense of the entire cast and crew present on this film."

Vertical's approach is considerably different to that of Ridley Scott's, who 'almost immediately' made the decision to recast Kevin Spacey's character in All the Money in the World when allegations against the actor emerged.

The film went on to do extensive – and expensive – reshoots, with Spacey's replacement Christopher Plummer even bagging himself a Golden Globe nomination for his work.

Netflix's House of Cards also recently released an image from the political drama's new-look sixth season – its first without Spacey in the lead role as Frank Underwood.
