Pacific Rim: Uprising's explosive first trailer has arrived.
For fans of the original, you'll be pleased to know it looks to have delivered the same amount of robots on aliens carnage and a stirring speech, this time from John Boyega's Jake Pentecost.
The movie's official Twitter page linked to a new site for Jaegar Pilots yesterday (October 5) to tease the trailer launch as long as you could break the code which revealed a countdown clock to the "next breach".
A later tweet from Universal confirmed that the trailer would be with us today.
Ahead of the trailer release, the plot for the sci-fi sequel was revealed by Universal and Legendary Pictures, confirming the return of Rinko Kikuchi's Mako Mori from the first movie.
John Boyega stars as Jake Pentecost, the son of Idris Elba's Stacker Pentecost who sacrificed himself in the first movie, and Jake is in a bit of trouble when the movie begins.
"Jake has since abandoned his training only to become caught up in a criminal underworld. But when an even more unstoppable threat is unleashed to tear through our cities and bring the world to its knees, he is given one last chance to live up to his father's legacy," the synopsis reads.
That chance is given to him by Mako Mori who is leading a "brave new generation" of Jaeger pilots. "Their only hope is to unite together in a global uprising against the forces of extinction," the synopsis teases.
Pacific Rim: Uprising lands in cinemas on March 23, 2018.
