'It was like someone holding a blow torch to my leg': Schoolgirl recounts acid attack by her friend

A schoolgirl has recounted the moment she realised her classmate had filled her viola case with acid - which spilled onto her leg and scarred her for life.

Molly Young was attacked with drain cleaner, which contains sulphuric acid, by a peer after she began dating her ex boyfriend.

After returning to school from an appointment, she was warned the other girl had been touching her viola.

However, she couldn't have known she was about to be scarred for life when she opened the case.

She went to check on it with a friend - and said she had a "bad feeling" about what had happened.

She said: "I took [my viola] off the shelf like I do three times a day and then my tights started to disintegrate."

The schoolgirl said she had no idea what was going on, as acid continued to pour out of the case.

"When I saw the holes in my tights I was like what’s going on?" she said.

Then, she felt the pain.

Ms Young recounted: "It was like someone holding a blow torch to your leg.

"I couldn’t pull away cause it was stuck to me and it just kept burning."

She ran to find a teacher: "I just kept saying 'it's so hot, it’s burning.'"

Her attacker is currently serving a 21 month jail sentence after being found guilty.
