Manchester United legend Roy Keane says he thinks most sides in the Premier League are ahead of Arsenal.

Speaking on ITV Football’s Champions League highlights show alongside former Gunner Lee Dixon, the pair were asked if fierce rivals Tottenham, who drew at Real Madrid on Tuesday night, have surpassed Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger’s side finished fifth in last season’s Premier League, meaning they missed out on Europe’s top competition for the first time in the Frenchman’s tenure.

After Dixon had admitted that Spurs had exceeded his old club, Keane added: "I think most teams in the Premier League are ahead of Arsenal,"

Dixon (through gritted teeth): "Spurs are in better shape than Arsenal"

Dixon continued; "Spurs now are rock solid, a really good team. They went to Real Madrid, they were very brave and showed a lot of courage.

"The manager and players deserve great credit because this is a top Tottenham team now.

“They can be a threat in the Champions League, getting into the knock-out stages and getting to a quarter-final maybe."

The first north London derby of the season comes at The Emirates in just under a month’s time.
