EastEnders surprised fans by skipping two days in a matter of seconds last night.
However, just as viewers were putting the pieces of the puzzle together, the drama skipped ahead to two days later.
Mick Carter was seen complaining that he'd spent "40 hours in bed" while recovering from being shot, but his wife Linda disapproved of him making himself feel better by drinking at 9am.
While time skips in soaps are unusual, this one came about as Tuesday's hour-long special was actually two episodes merged together.
EastEnders always airs more often over the dramatic Christmas and New Year period, which meant two separate editions were put together in an hour-long slot last night, in order to fit everything in.
The shift between both episodes was also noticeable because the second half of the hour-long edition focused on the Brannings' ongoing storyline, when they'd been missing from the first half.
Thursday's episode will air as normal at 7.30pm, but there's no Friday edition this week due to football coverage on BBC One.
EastEnders continues tonight at 8pm on BBC One.
