New Appeal For Hillsborough Tragedy Witnesses

New Appeal For Hillsborough Tragedy Witnesses

Authorities investigating the Hillsborough football tragedy have released images of five more people they want to reach.

They are believed to be potential witnesses to what happened at Hillsborough Football Stadium when 96 Liverpool fans died at the FA Cup semi-final in April 1989.

It is thought the five individuals helped some of the fans who lost their lives.

Similar appeals for witnesses have helped identify 33 people in recent weeks.

The images have been released by Operation Resolve, which was set up by the Government in 2012 to look at whether any person or organisation should face criminal charges.

It is examining what planning was done in the lead up to the game, as well as how police responded to the tragedy at the Leppings Lane end of the stadium.

The operation is working alongside new inquests into the 96 deaths. There is also an Independent Police Complaints Commission investigation under way.

The three separate inquiries were prompted by a 2012 report which brought to light new evidence about what took place.

Anyone who recognises people in the images is asked to contact Operation Resolve .
