Appeal for information after 'shooting' in Scunthorpe
Police have issued an appeal for information following a reported shooting in Scunthorpe. Officers are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
Humberside Police said that a silver car was travelling along Scotter Road in the early hours of Sunday, October 20, when a silver Volvo and quad bike blocked off its path near the junction of Bristol Road. Two men from the quad bike then attempted to open the doors of the silver car and upon failing to do so, fired a gun into the vehicle at around 1.15am.
The occupants within the silver car managed to get away and the Volvo was found on fire a short time later on Farmers Lane, Scunthorpe. A 17-year-old boy was taken to hospital at the time for injuries to his hip and has since been discharged.

Detective Chief Inspector Amy Keane-Christie said: “I fully understand an incident of this nature will naturally cause distress to the local community, and I want to offer my reassurance that we do believe this was a targeted attack with no wider risk to the public. Two men, 25 and 30-years-old, were arrested swiftly after in connection to the incident and have since been bailed as enquiries continue.
“Detectives continue to conduct multiple lines of enquiry to establish the circumstances around the incident, including viewing CCTV and conducting house-to-house enquiries to collate information. Officers have also been present in the local area since the incident, engaging with residents and providing reassurance, and I would encourage people to speak with them about any concerns.
“I would urge anyone who has any information, or who may have been a witness, to please come forward, as your help could be crucial to the investigation and holding those responsible to account. If you can help in any way or have any CCTV or dashcam footage which hasn’t yet been given to the Police, please contact us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 24 of 20 October.”
