Apple is finally releasing a rouged-up version of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in support of global AIDS charity RED.

It's not the first time that Tim Cook's tech giant has partnered with the charity, having previously modified the App Store and top-selling apps with the colour for World AIDS Day.

"The introduction of this special edition iPhone in a gorgeous red finish is our biggest Product RED offering to date in celebration of our partnership with RED," says Cook of the new phones. "We can't wait to get it into customers' hands."

The iPhone 7 is currently available in Jet Black, Black, Silver, Gold and Rose Gold, none of which are as striking as this little baby.

The RED iPhone 7 and RED iPhone 7 Plus will be available for purchase in the US and UK on Friday, March 24 in 128GB and 256GB models. The standard 7 begins at £699, the 7 plus at £819.

And as well as looking swish without the need for a case, every purchase "contributes directly to the Global Fund to fight AIDS".

"(RED)'s critical work provides access to life-saving HIV/AIDS programs in sub-Saharan Africa, which is home to more than two-thirds of the world's HIV-positive population," Apple shared in a post about the product announcement.

"One-hundred per cent of all money raised by RED goes directly to Global Fund HIV/AIDS grants that provide testing, counselling, treatment and prevention programmes with a specific focus on eliminating transmission of the virus from mums to their babies.

"Since it was founded in 2006, RED has generated more than $465 million for the Global Fund, with more than $130 million from Apple alone."

According to the World Health Organization, the number of people estimated to be living with HIV in 2014 was between 34.4 and 41.4 million.
