Apple introduced its third-series watch during its latest media launch today (September 12).
Apple Watch Series 3 will be officially available to buy on September 22, and available to pre-order from September 15.
The swimproof watch will launch in eight countries initially, including the US and UK, and feature an introductory offer at its selected retailers, with a starting price in the US of $399.
For the first time in an Apple Watch, the third series will have cellular built in (although there's a $329 without cellular), meaning you can make and receive calls without your phone close by.
The watch will have the same number as your phone, and be the first in the series where Siri can talk, with customers able to experience "Siri at your beck and call. Anytime. Anywhere."
The cellular function will also change the way customers can listen to music, as you can 'stream 40 million songs on your wrist'.
The new edition will feature the 'most advanced technologies ever in a watch', with a dual core processor that apparently gives wearers up to 70% more performance. It will be powered by a much smaller electronic sim and will have an 85% faster WiFi connection speed, as well as being 50% more power-efficient.
The case size will be the same as for the second-series watch, although Series 3 will have an extended back crystal of 0.25 mm (so roughly the depth of two A4 sheets of paper).
Wrists at the ready!
