Apple Will ‘Copy Samsung’ With A Curved-Screen iPhone, Sources Say

Apple could be about to take a leaf out of Samsung’s book - and bring out a screen with curved edges, similar to Samsung’s hit Galaxy Note 7.

A source within Apple’s supply chain hints that the change is going to arrive next year, rather than in this year’s iPhone 7.

Speaking to Nikkei Asian review, the source said, ‘There will be a 4.7-inch model, another that will be 5.5-inches and a premium handset that will be either 5.5-inches or larger equipped with a screen bent on the two sides.

The move to a curved screen wouldn’t be altogether surprising: Samsung’s S7 Edge and Note 7 models have proved hugely successful.

Respected KGI Securities analyst Ming Chi Kuo predicted earlier this year that Apple would move to a curved screen.

He said, ‘We expect the 2017 new iPhone model to adopt a structural design similar to that of iPhone 4/ 4s, meaning it will be equipped with glass on both the front and back sides, and a metal frame surrounded the edges.

‘The difference is that the new model will likely come with a curved screen and curved glass casing, with other important features including a 5.8-inch AMOLED display, wireless charging, and more biometric recognitions (facial or iris).’
