REQUESTS to close residential roads for street parties to mark the coronation of His Majesty The King are being accepted by Dorset Council.

The authority says applications are already being received to close roads for street parties over the holiday weekend of May 6, 7 and 8.

All applications will be considered but requests should be made in line with the classification and conditions set out.

These include:

• Not publicised for the general public so will not draw in people from a wider area

• Applies to the residents of one or two streets only and so attendance will generally involve fewer than 150 people

• Will only restrict use of minor residential roads: a cul-de-sac or a road which only exists to serve the properties alongside it

• Will only have a very minimal impact on through traffic

• Does not impact a bus route/bus services

The council also asked applicants consider if other residents and neighbours are happy with the arrangements, the location is safe and there are no safety risks.

Applications must be submitted by the end of the day on Friday, March 31.
