The BBC has confirmed the start date of the new series of The Apprentice.

Lord Alan Sugar will be getting out his firing finger from Wednesday, October 4 at 9pm on BBC One, meaning the new series is only two weeks away.

The first teaser for the new series was released last week and saw Lord Sugar doing what he does best as he has a rant at a number of suited men and women dancing to a remix of the famous "you're fired" phrase.

"I asked you to make a trailer, not bleedin' La La Land. You're fired!," he exclaims, never one to avoid an easy pop culture reference.

Last year's series of The Apprentice was won by Alana Spencer as she secured Lord Sugar's £250,000 investment for her cake business.

Not everyone leaves the show happy though as Frances Bishop – who finished third behind Alana and Courtney Wood – has criticised the editing of the show.

"It's like the Hunger Games! It's so stressful. Everyone is completely different from what you see in the show. They put you into a character, they write one for you, and that's what you'll come out like," she claimed.

"The edit is horrific. The edit ruins lives. They don't show the whole decision-making process."

The Apprentice returns on Wednesday, October 4 at 9pm on BBC One.
