Kayode Damali has become the latest candidate to be fired from The Apprentice as Lord Sugar continued to weed out the bad business brains.

The professional speaker, who amused fans from the off with his “three handed” promotion shot , was axed by the business mogul after failing to win him over with the urban gardening task.

In the boardroom, Lord Sugar told Damali: “You’ve been a good performer in the last seven weeks. You have been able to sell well,” before adding that he doesn’t “get” the business propositions as well.

Lord Sugar told Damali that he doesn’t think he has the ability he is looking for long-term before delivering the dreaded: "You're fired!"

Speaking about his exit after storming out of the boardroom without thanking Lord Sugar, Damali said: “I just want to go back and see my family - spend time with people who love me. And my cat. I’m looking forward to seeing my cat.

“We live, we learn, we live again. I will be back. It may take me a day, it might take me a month or a year but you will see me again.”

Damali’s task, part of the mobile team, was blighted by problems throughout the day after getting off to a rocky start when the van full of tools failed to turn up at their boat job on time.

The 26-year-old was also singled out by project manager Tom Bunday as the “weak link” after they clashed over him following instructions on the task.

During his time in the competition, Damali became something of a fan-favourite with his infectious personality, and even made an impression on Lord Sugar’s aide Claude Littner.

Littner looked on in admiration as he watched Damali sell doughnuts in an early stage of the competition .

He said: “Kayode is a marvel really. I think he’s got a personality that is really unique. He’s great.”

And he appeared to be smiling as he watched Damali chatting to customers effortlessly, even conversing in German, while clearing out the leftover stock.

Fans were loving watching Littner’s fondness for the contestant, likening him to a “proud father” and spotting a budding “bromance”.

But the businessman joked that fans “shouldn’t get carried away” and that he was simply “admiring brilliant selling skills” and wasn’t smiling, merely suffering with the sun in his eyes.

The Apprentice continues Wednesday at 9pm on BBC One.
