The Apprentice winner Alana Spencer has her cake range recalled

Lord Sugar, look away now.

After winning series 12 of the business-savvy show last year, The Apprentice champ, Alana Spencer, has been left with egg on her face (or should that be cake?).

Ridiculously Rich, a cake company Spencer started up in Aberystwyth, came under fire from the Food Standards Agency, after its products were labelled incorrectly.

According to the BBC, the FSA stated a majority of the products were “not correctly declared” when put on sale to customers and had to be recalled.

In fact, it was brought to light that over 90% of their products were labelled wrong when’s it came to declaring allegens.

FSA warned that consumers with allergies to soya, egg, peanuts, wheat, barley, oats or sulphates could be at risk, due to misleading product information.

However, spiced apple flapjack fans will be pleased because that was one of the few products not noted as at risk.

As reward for winning the series, Spencer was awarded the £250,000 prize and a 50/50 business partnership with Lord Sugar himself.

Despite this setback, Lord Sugar was said to have immediately been made aware of the gaff and ready to move forward as a lesson learned.

Let’s hope Richly Delicious can, ahem, rise to the occasion next time.
