According to recent reports, the singers – who are both singed to Columbia Records – met up in between their solo gigs in Los Angeles to discuss some exciting collaboration plans.

“This could easily become one of the most important and lucrative collaborations in modern music history. And they are both very much up for it,” an industry insider told the Daily Star.

“Despite the huge gulf in age and their different genres, both have said they would love to get together in the studio and record a duets album.

“The feeling is that the tracks would most likely be new versions of their own best-known numbers with maybe one or two new songs added to the mix.”

And even though the two stars have seriously hectic schedules, they are both reportedly eager to record together and might even follow their collaboration up with a mini-tour.

“Both of them have busy schedules but the logistics shouldn’t be too much of problem because this is something they both have their hearts set on,” the source added.

Streisand, 74, previously released an album of duets – titled Partners – in 2014, which featured collaborations with Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie, Michael Bublé, John Mayer and many, many more.

The album topped the Billboard 200 with sales of 196,000 copies in the first week, making Streisand the only recording artist to have a number-one album in each of the last six decades.

Meanwhile Adele, 28, has experienced tons of success of her own, with sales of more than 100 million records, she has become one of the best-selling artists in the world – but a duets album would be a new addition to her music catalogue.

The powerhouse singers’ prospective album is expected to be similar in style to Lady Gaga’s and Tony Bennett’s collaborative album, Cheek to Cheek, which received the ‘Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album’ Grammy Award in 2015.
