Are These Britain’s Most Pointless Double Yellow Lines?

A local council has been accused of pettiness after it painted what could be Britain’s shortest double yellow lines.

Measuring just a foot long, the space they cover is barely big enough for a Matchbox car let alone an actual vehicle.

If you’re wondering how long the foot-long lines are, they measure about the same length as a footlong Subway sandwich.

Kingston Council, in south west London, authorised contractors to paint the lines after resurfacing work was completed last Friday.

Local Jill Gilson who has lived on the street for 16 years has no idea why they bothered painting the tiny lines.

The 56-year-old said: “I can’t understand it.

"It’s a total waste of time. I think this is a ridiculous way for the council to spend their money.

Resident Oliver English said: "I think it’s stupid and a bit pointless."
