Pictures emerged on Saturday of Argentina coach Jorge Sampaoli's notebook from his side's training session in Bronnitsy, just days after England's team plans against Panamawere accidentally leaked by manager Gareth Southgate's assistant Steve Holland.

Argentina's daily sports magazine Ole has already published the pictures of Sampaoli's notebook, which seems to reveal details of a seven against seven training session, a possible indicator of who Sampaoli plans to start in their final group match against Nigeria.

Sampaoli is already under immense pressure after a 3-0 loss to Croatia left them on the verge of exiting at the group stage. They must beat Nigeria to remain in the competition.

The relationship between the media and the national side has become one of the major talking points of the 2018 World Cup, and the discussion over whether the media should reveal information that could damage the national side's preparations is likely to continue both in England and now Argentina.

England defender Kyle Walker claimed on Friday that he and his team-mates are yet to be told who will start against Panama, but challenged the media on the issue: "I think if you guys try to keep it to yourself and don't bring it out to the world, because it's not going to help us come the later stages of the tournament, please God we get there."

While Southgate played down the incident, he took a swipe at the media for reporting Holland's gaffe: “For me, no drama but obviously any time if we were to give the opposition the opportunity of having our team is a disadvantage to us. So of course our media has to decide whether they want to help the team or not."

The leaks from the Argentina and England camps has shown just how quickly these pictures become worldwide news.

Former England midfielder, Jermaine Jenas, told the BBC he thought it was impossible to stop such images circulating once they've been taken: "I do think it is slightly naive not to think that in today’s social media world things like that are not going to get out anyway. Whether it is the local press that is there, our own British press or international press — someone is going to get it out."

Steve Holland has apologised to the England squad for the leak, which has interrupted an otherwise perfect start to England World Cup campaign.

Meanwhile, Dele Alli has returned to England training but is unlikely to face Panama on Sunday.
