Arguments Break Out as People Queue for Free COVID-19 Test Kits in NYC

Large crowds of New Yorkers lined up across the city’s boroughs on Friday, December 24, to receive free at-home COVID-19 testing kits ahead of Christmas day.

Footage filmed by local resident Leon Jameson Suseran shows scores of people lining up at a van in the Queens neighborhood of Woodhaven. Later in the footage arguments break out with some people shouting “those people are not in line” and “get in line.” The person handing out testing kits can be heard saying “get out, get out” as a group of people push closer to the van.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced 2,000 kits were to be handed out across the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island.
