Ariana DeBose’s Reaction To Being Lumped With “Actors Who Think They Are Singers” Joke At Critics Choice Awards Lights Up Social Media

Ariana DeBose did not look too pleased with a joke at the Critics Choice Awards that lumped her into a category with “actors who think they are singers.”

Bella Ramsey and Anthony Ramos took the stage to present the Best Song category. The star of The Last of Us started off by saying that the nominees in the category were “delivered by some of the most famous voices in the music industry.”

Ramos proceeded to name Billie Eilish, Lenny Kravitz and Dua Lipa as the “famous voices.” Ramsey continued to read off the teleprompter and said, “Then there are the actors who also think that they are singers.”

Ramsey then named Jack Black, DeBose and Ryan Gosling as the representation of those in the “batch” of “actors who think they are singers.”

The camera panned over to DeBose, who was seemingly puzzled by her mention but proceeded to put on a smile and laugh at the joke.

DeBose was nominated in the Best Song category for her performance of “This Wish,” which was featured in the animated film Wish.

The Academy Award-winning actor won an Oscar for her role as Anita in Steven Spielberg’s 2021 film adaptation of West Side Story. In addition, DeBose has extensive experience in Broadway musicals like Bring It On, Motown: The Musical, Pippin and Hamilton.
