Ariana Grande adjusting Nicki Minaj’s dress on her way up to the MTV VMAs stage is friendship goals

Ariana Grande proved that she’s one hell of a friend as she jumped up from her seat to help Nicki Minaj adjust her dress before she went up on stage at the MTV VMAS.

The good pals, who have collaborated on a number of tracks, showed the world that they well and truly have each other’s backs at the star-studded ceremony on Monday night.

In a serious case of friendship goals, Grande spotted the rapper struggling with her sheer tulle gown as she attempted to reach the stage after being named Best Hip Hop Artist and immediately got up to help.

Grande grabbed the sheer train of the dress, which had become tangled underneath the star, and held her hand while she guided her onto the stage.

While accepting her award, Minaj made sure to thank Grande, describing her as “my baby”.

She said: “Ariana Grande, my baby. I’m so proud of you. I’m so freaking proud of you, Ariana.”

The camera panned back to Grande in the audience, who mouthed back: “I love you.”

The pair first collaborated on 2014 track Bang Bang alongside Jessie J and have been firm friends ever since.

They went on to duet on songs including Get On You Knees, Side to Side and most recently, Bed, which was released just a few months ago.

Grande was also a big winner at this year’s ceremony, scooping the gong for Best Pop prize for her hit No Tears Left To Cry.

The pop superstar thanked her fans, her family and fiancé Pete Davidson, who was seated in the audience.

Jennifer Lopez, who performed at the star-studded awards night, received a standing ovation as she accepted the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
