With most of the world currently on lockdown due to the coronavirus crisis, many of us are left looking for things to pass the time.

While some of us are reading, bingeing on Netflix or trying to keep fit indoors, Ariana Grande has a rather novel way of keeping boredom at bay.

Teaming up with pals Alfredo Flores and Dynasty actor Elizabeth Gillies, the 7 Rings singer recreated a scene from the 1998 film The Waterboy, with Grande, 26, playing Adam Sandler’s Bobby Boucher Junior.

In the video, which Grande captioned: “And how’d you all make use of your day?", she talks to Gillies, who plays a female love interest.

Grande has previously discussed her love for the movie, posting about it on her Instagram story. When someone questioned whether a post she had shared of comic actor Sandler was linked to her new album released, Grande responded: “Bruh, I just like Waterboy.”

She previously said in an interview that it was her part as goofy, comedic sidekick Cat Valentine in Nickelodeon show Victorious which paved her way for her singing career.

“I never really saw myself as an actress,” she told Vogue magazine last year. “But when I started talking about wanting to make R&B music at 14, they were like, ‘What the f*** would you sing about? This is never going to work.

“You should audition for some TV shows and build yourself a platform and get yourself out there, because you’re funny and cute and you should do that until you’re old enough to make the music you want to make.

“So I did that. I booked that TV show, and then I was like, OK, now can I make music?”

Grande is not the only celebrity entertaining fans on Instagram live, with a number of famous faces making chat shows, book clubs and even make-up tutorials on the platform. Read the Evening Standard’s extensive list here.
