Popstar Ariana Grande has spoken out about her recent split from boyfriend Mac Miller, describing the relationship as ‘toxic’.

After the Side To Side singer and her boyfriend of two years rapper Mac, 26, broke up, fans were quick to give their opinions despite knowing nothing of the couple’s reasons for going their separate ways.

Many assumed that she dumped him after his DUI stop which saw Mac arrested for allegedly crashing his car while under the influence, but it appears that’s not the case.

A tweet describing the breakup as ‘the most heartbreaking thing happening in Hollywood’ prompted the singer herself to tweet a response to how the public were reacting to it.

‘Mac Miller totalling his G wagon and getting a DUI after Ariana Grande dumped him for another dude after he poured his heart out on a ten song album to her called the divine feminine is just the most heartbreaking thing happening in Hollywood,’ the post that amassed some 29,000 retweets read.

Ariana, 24, hit back, adding some truth and clarity to the rumours going round.

She wrote out a post: ‘how absurd that you minimize female self-respect and self-worth by saying someone should stay n a toxic relationship,’ she began.

‘I am not a babysitter or a mother and no woman should feel that they need to be. I have cared for him and tried to support his sobriety & prayed for his balance for years (and always will of course) but shaming/blaming women for a man’s inability to keep his sh*t together is a very major problem,’ it concluded.

The fan, clearly moved by the One Last Time singer’s response, replied with an apology of sorts, saying that they didn’t intend to cause offence.

To which Ariana thanked him for the reply and taking the time to reflect on the original implications of the post.

‘thank you for hearing me, i appreciate your response v much. sending u love,’ she said.

This week saw the one-year anniversary of the Manchester Arena bombing that killed 22 and injured 139 during a Ariana convert last May. The star shared a touching tribute to everyone affected yesterday, which marked the event, a Mancheter (and indeed the country) held a minute’s silence to pay their respects.
