Ariana Grande reveals bee tattoo tribute for Manchester attack victims

Ariana Grande has shared a photo of her new bee tattoo, which pays tribute to the symbol of Manchester and commemorates the victims of the Manchester Arena attack.

This week, the city marked one year since 22 people were killed in a terror attack that took place shortly after Grande's concert had finished, on 22 May 2017, with an estimated 800 more suffering physical and psychological injuries.

To remember the victims, thousands of people had a bee tattooed on their bodies, which for many signifies hard work and working together.

It stems from the era of the Industrial Revolution when Manchester factories were often referred to as beehives, because its workers were so busy and productive. In 1842 the bee was officially incorporated into the Manchester coat of arms.

While there were reports that Grande joined the tributes last year, she has not confirmed the tattoo until now.

She also featured a bee which flew away at the end of her music video for "No Tears Left To Cry", which was her first single released since the attack.

On 22 May 2018 she posted a tweet which said: "Thinking of you all today and every day. I love you with all of me and am sending you all of the light and warmth I have to offer on this challenging day."
