Arizona Floods Sweep Away Buildings And Vehicles

Torrential flash floods have destroyed builkdings and swept away cars after severe storms hit Arizona.

Up to 3,000 home and businesses were left without power as more than 50 electricity poles were knocked down, according to the Arizona Public Service.

Work was taking place on Sunday morning to reconnect power supplies in parts of the state.

Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued by the National Weather Service for Maricopa County early in the evening on Saturday before flooding hit the state's capital and largest city Phoenix.

The Arizona Republic reported that flooding was especially bad near a caravan park in Wickenburg, where the water swept away part of the road and made it impossible for people to go in either direction.

Vehicles floated downstream to the Hassayampa River.

There were no reports of injuries.
