Armed police descend on Fife town after reports of male youth with firearm

Armed police have descended on a Fife town after reports of a male youth in possession of a firearm.

Officers from Police Scotland descended on Kirkcaldy on Tuesday afternoon with multiple police vehicles pictured outside the Fife Ice Arena which is home to ice hockey team, Fife Flyers.

Cops were called to the School Brae area of the Fire town where they are carrying out a search. However, they have urged that there is no wider threat to the public.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3.35pm on Tuesday, 4 June, 2024, we received a report of a male youth in possession of what appeared to be a firearm in the School Brae area of Kirkcaldy.

"Officers are carrying out a search of the area. There is no wider threat to the public."
