Armed police rush to Pershore Road after man stabbed near Selly Park

Armed police rushed to a city street after a man was stabbed. The victim, in his 40s, was knifed in Pershore Road shortly after 8pm on Wednesday, June 5.

The victim suffered a head injury which was later deemed not serious. Police sealed off part of Pershore Road following the attack.

Two men were arrested before being "quickly eliminated" from West Midlands Police's investigation. They will face no further action, the force said.

Andrew Burns, who was at the scene, said: "There must have been nearly 100 people watching. I saw armed police and officers in riot gear. Police dogs were barking."

A West Midlands Police spokesperson told BirminghamLive this morning: "We're investigating after a man was stabbed in Pershore Road, Birmingham, at just after 8pm yesterday, June 5. A man in his 40s sustained a head injury which was thankfully not serious.

"Two men were initially arrested, but they were quickly eliminated from enquiries and released with no further action. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact us via Live Chat on our website, or by calling 101, and quoting 20/558587/24 of June 5."
