Armed police staged a mock terrorist hijacking on the river Thames

More than 200 armed Met police officers carried out a training exercise on the river Thames in London.

They staged a mock terrorist hijacking on a sightseeing boat.

Police said the drill was designed to test their emergency response and that it wasn't in response to a specific threat.

Britain's terrorism threat level remains "severe" which means an attack is deemed "high likely."
