Armed police swooped on a Edinburgh housing estate after a report of men with 'bladed weapons'.

Firearms and divisional officers were called to Moredun Dykes Road, Gilmerton, at around 4.40pm on Friday afternoon, September 6, after two men were reportedly seen in the area with weapons.

However, police could find no trace of the men on arrival and a search of the immediate area provided no trace of the men. However, inquiries into the incident are continuing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 4.40 pm on Friday, 6 September 2024, police were called to a report of two men with bladed weapons on Moredun Dykes Road, Edinburgh.

"Officers attended by there was no trace of the men on arrival nor on further search of the surrounding area. Enquiries into the incident are continuing."
